I couldn't find (read: couldn't be arsed because I was upstairs and my notes were downstairs) any handouts on writing a proposal (I genuinely can't remember being given one). So, I did a Google search and found:

http://www.rusoffagency.com/non_fiction_book_proposal.htm

Which has been -very- helpful for me. I know that the proposal is supposed to be approx 2-3 pages for our project, because I don't remember the sample one Neal handed around (then collected back in -_-) being 10 pages or anything ridiculous like that. I also vaguely recall several things in that proposal being mentioned here, and this is a proper site after all.

Hope that helps Beth!

Birthday Update

I had a really lovely birthday yesterday :D Everything was so nice and nothing was stressful and no bad bits at all.

I had a lie in (obviously, because I always sleep in when I'm at home) and when I woke up, I went downstairs in my jim-jams (why bother getting dressed straight away? lol) and Dad had made me a cup of tea. Mum was working until 11.30, so I was going to wait for her to come home before opening cards; and Dad hasn't bought the papers in ages, so he ended up giving me FourFourTwo (football magazine) to read. And it was *whispers* rather good. Style was a bit blokey (which I expected) and inconsistent, but a decent read. Not as good as SFX. Few things are.

Anyway, I was so engrossed in the magazine that when Mum came back I forgot about cards for a bit, lol, then when she reminded me I got stuck in. Orla's card made me get all teary; and Becca sent me the prettiest card - twas all black and shiny. Had about £65/70 overall, in terms of birthday money. Which was extremely nice of everyone who gave me money.

Then Mum and I went to town. Because I'm an awkward bugger who's usually averse to birthdays (especially mine) my parents hadn't bought me anything. Last week we had a letter saying that the 26th and 27th of April would be a Dorothy Perkins cardholder event - 20% off everything; so I said that they shouldn't get me presents, just take me there on my birthday (came home too late on the 26th). So I bought:
4 tops - one made out of organic cotton; it's white with little butterflies on it which at the top of the t-shirt are purple, then they fade into a reddy-pink
- one black sleeveless boob tube top which has funky twisty crap at the top
- one jade green vest style t-shirt
- one grey vest which is teh sex
- a blue patterned mini dress (it's not that mini though, thankfully!)
- a pair of dark jeans
- a brown studded belt
- a pair of sunglasses
- underwear

Then we went to The Bidding, which is a pub/restaurant thing type place. Mum had a glass of cider; I had a glass of Bailey's; and we had lunch there - we shared a serving platter of yummy food. AND KELA SENT ME A TEXT. Several. All of which had me grinning like a loon.

At home I rang my brothers to let them know we were all going out for a meal in the Miramar later that day. Andy and Sarah came down before we were meant to go and gave me my present. You know that in an episode of Angel (Smile Time) Angel got turned into a muppet-esque puppet? Well my other brother had bought me Vamp Puppet Angel for my last birthday; and then they released a Spike version. So Andy and Sarah bought me Spike. HE'S GORGEOUS. I love him. :P

And went over to the Miramar and Ian and Jo had bought me a Piggin' (funny figurines of pigs) which was brilliant, because I've not had a new one in ages and it's so cute! And they bought me a new handbag which is teh sex.

Oh, and I had the dessert to die for: a White Chocolate and Strawberry Ice Cream Cheesecake. And Vito (the owner of the Miramar) noticed it was my birthday and gave me a free cocktail - which Sarah reckons was a Screaming Orgasm. It was also very yummy.

I've finished my creative project. All 40 pages of it. It's sad that I can't adequately describe how deliriously happy I am, lol.

In relationships, that's not always the case.

It's possible you intimidate potential lovers. Most likely, though, you're a little closed off--therefore mysterious--and, naturally, people find that difficult to get with. Maybe it's just part of your selection

How evil are you?

Taken from ghyste's livejournal. Go me!

Ugh I'm trying to write my creative project and I think my mojo has officially deserted me. It doesn't help that I keep having ideas for things to write which aren't even remotely University related. Bah.

I am home for Easter. Three weeks off - in theory, bliss. In reality? It's three weeks of sodding uni work:

Business of Writing
1. Anthology Proposal
2. Anthology Introduction
3. Anthology Sample Contents Page
4. A proofreading task
5. A proposal for a one day cultural event held somewhere in Wales.

Creative Project
1. Finish my script - approx 40 pages; I have 10 done
2. Self reflexive log book - approx 2000 words

Literature and Adaptation
1. Adapt the opening pages of a novel/short story as a script
2. Compare a film adaptation and analyse how it's been adapted
3. Compare two different adaptations of the same text
4. Choose an example of a bad adaptation and explain why you think it's a bad adaptation (this and #2 may very well be the same thing; either way, I've three tasks to do for this module and these are my choices)

Performance Theories and Techniques (aka: most boring lecture EVER)
1. A critique of a theorist
2. A star study
3. A critique of a theatre/screen performance
4. A voice study (again, I need three options; debating between #'s and 4)

The deadlines for these are either the 11th May or the 18th May. And I have a timed essay at some point; I get that question on the 23rd April.

Le sigh. With the exception of the Creative Project, everything must be the equivalent of 2500 words. Blah.

I'm Back

I have a new computer; so now the old, dead one is gone. And I have the internet. And this post marks the first time I've been on the internet this year - which is rather... odd.
